Have you ever been driving down the road and suddenly something grabs your attention, so much so that you have to do a double-take and keep looking. I think the official term is "rubbernecking." This morning I did some major rubbernecking.
I was coming home from an errand with Peter, and my coming home route took me by Flossie's house (an awesome lady from our church. She's the one if you ask her "how are you?" she ALWAYS says, "Blessed!" She is great). So as we went by her house I just noticed there was a lawn service trailer parked at her house. No big deal right? I mean it just registered somewhere back in my consciousness.
But as we got closer I thought, "Wow! There are a lot of people working on her lawn, raking flower beds, cleaning gutters." And as I drove by, doing some major rubbernecking, I realized, "That's not just a lot of people, that's a lot of MY people!"
It was Ron Crayton leading the Helping Hands team. There were about 15 people on a Saturday morning working at Flossie's house. Besides the lawn mowing and flowerbed cleaning, they poured a new section of her sidewalk, cleaned her garage, and did a few other projects. You guys are awesome.
These are people who work full-time jobs, raise their families, are involved and busy, and they take their whole Saturday morning to serve and give. I went around the block, got out, and gave all of them a hug! That's the kingdom of God! That's what people look at and say, "I want some of that. I want my life to count like that!"
Keep it up guys. That was a WIN in the Kingdom!
