A learning curve is the rate of a person's progress in getting experience, gaining knowledge, or acquiring skills. For some things the learning curve is pretty steep and progress is slow. There are other things where the learning comes pretty quickly and easily. The question that I've been asking myself lately is not "What's the pace of the learning curve?", it's been, "Am I learning? Period."
I find it embarassingly easy to just slide through the day (and through the week, month, and on and on) without really stopping to process and evaluate what is happening around me and in me. Gena and I frequently ask our kids at the dinner table "What did you learn today?" I need to make that a daily question of myself. "What am I learning today?" Or put another way, "What is God teaching me today?" Because folks, no matter what we may think; God is teaching me something today, if I'm wise enough to realize it.
One way God has been speaking to me, and teaching me, is through the books I've been reading. I've been given a lot to chew on and process and apply into my life. When I'm reading good books I find that my vocabulary changes, as well as my perspective.
This past week I read three books, and over the next few days I'm going to give my thoughts and "take aways" from each. The books are:
"The Heavenly Man" by Paul Hattaway
"Purple Cow" by Seth Godin
"A Tale of Three Kings" by Gene Edwards
