Yesterday I took a team of four to the Wired Churches seminar that is a part of Granger Community Church. They were doing a West Coast Regional tour and we were able to hear some great speakers and connect with great church leaders in Manteca at Crossroads Grace Church.
I was in a session on Communication and it was great stuff. Being reminded of the world we live in and how we can speak unchanging truth to a rapidly changing culture. I left pumped up about the message that we get to speak about the greatest hope ever: Jesus Christ.
Our session was led by Kem Meyer, and she made an off-hand comment that has really stuck with me, considering the internet driven world that our kids live in. She said . . .
"We used to give our kids computers and technology so they could have an edge in the world, and now we need to take technology away to give them an edge."
It just reminded me how much we need to teach (and lead by example) our kids to speak and interact, and get involved, and make a difference. That's the edge!
